How do I unmute people on xbox live?

Question

Before, I could hear and talk to people just fine. For some reason, now I can't. When I try to unmute in game it says that they are muted via the dashboard. When i go to the dashboard I see no way to unmute anyone. I've checked in the voices option and my settings say to play through speakers and the mute option is off. What am I missing?

check your friends list... click on ur friend's profiles and check that they arent muted (do this by veiwing friends list then click on one of them and check the mute button - last one on the list)

Check voice communications setting in the game. Or push the xbox button and go to personal settings, make sure it doesn't mute when you go into the game and check the volume levels. Other than that, can't help ya.

ive had this problem. you need to change the family settings on it. before i changed it i couldnt hear anyone that wasnt on my friends list.

ALSO if you muted them, im pretty sure theres no way to unmute. youll have to delete them and them get them on ur friends list again.
