Question:
How To Fix Hot Swap Rings on an xBox 360?
?

I was getting ready to perform a hot swap on my 360. I took it all apart and removed the magnet from the cd drive case. Then I put the magnet on top of the disc spinner with no disc in the drive. I then started the xbox using the remote because the power button was taken off. As soon as i started the x box the drive made the usual noise but then the fans went up to max power and then everything shut down as I was given the two rings.

HELP!!! How do i fix the rings, i know it isnt dust or overheating.

One small tiny metal piece fell out of somewhere it is less than an inch long but doesnt look important.

Thanks guys!

keep magnets WELL far away from all electrical products as they can easily demolish the insides!

if you are replacing a magnet that is inside the product when you take it out put it down far away. when placing it back in make sure you make the least contact you can

That same exact thing happened to me and i know that it is not dust or anything like that. One day i turned it on and that same metal piece went off. Then as you said i turned it off it overheated but the only different thing that happend to me is that it overheated to more than maximum seed and then the red rings went off and the system did not evenly work anymore. But, i think you can either send it in for microsoft well that is if your one year warranty is still in progress otherwise your Xbox 360 is dead. And when mine overheated it happend just in time for the Xbox 360 S launch so now i have an Xbox 360 S 250GB. I really recommend you getting that because it has a built in high powered fan. And if you do not want to spend that bargin. Than get a Refurbished Xbox 360.

make sure u tighten the black torx t8h (There are the little black 8 screws that are on the bottom make sure u push on the heatsinks while tighten them so they make contact ) screws very tight to the xbox internal case to prevent getting the 2 red rings.

U r getting the two red rings because the heatsinks are not tighten enough.
