I am getting a 360 for Christmas and I was wondering, will I have to keep it on a shelf?

I keep my ps2 on the carpet on the floor at the end of my bed atm. I was gonna buy one of those portable tv brackets to keep it on, do I need it?

every xbox 360's over heat. i got the xbox 360 elite because that has less Chance to get red rings of death. but to avoid heat and ring of death follow these steps that i do and you should be safe

1. never leave console on carpet as carpet would heat it up more

2. leave the 360 upwards, as you will see holes on both sides of the console, air needs to come out both ways, if you leave it flat it will only push air out one way and not the other and would over hear by trying to go one way

3. never leave the power plug on carpet, clothes, or any paper material. what i do is leave it on a table

4. when ever you play your 360 never leave your disc inside after you finish make sure you always take the disc out before you turn it off. otherwise turning it on while the disc in it will load while starting and hear up more

follow these steps that i do and you should never get any heat or red rings of death, iv been goin on perfect with my console like this with no errors

and no it shouldent if over heart if you play for too long. im guessing that. because i play my xbox for hours and hours or all day, still ramained great over the years thanks to the steps i do as you see above

a number of you do no longer understand what the RROD is. all people is stating the RROD that's 3 lights pink different than the appropriate precise one. His situation isn't the comparable. i'm no longer a hundred% particular what the overheating gentle sequence is, yet i think it is conceivable and that i will take his be conscious for it considering he's claiming it is the project. do no longer purchase the cooling fan even with the undeniable fact that. no longer properly worth it. basically be certain no vents are blocked whilst playing. and don't persist with that stupid towel trick in case you ever get the RROD. It in easy terms prolongs the existence of you xbox somewhat even with the undeniable fact that it doens't restoration the project and would void your guarantee.

all xbox 360's overheat its the **** hardware that ms put in them which causes the motherboard to flex.

get a ps3

and i also wouldnt stand the 360 up because of the dvd drive tends to scratch your games up leave it laid down

Yeah, the carpet is not a good idea. Just keep it well ventilated and you will be fine. The newer ones have less trouble with overheating anyway :)
