xbox 360 extend warranty question?

so i decide to buy 360 elite after all since i read 360 forum that they extend warranty for 3 years after the day you purchase it. im have a question does it require u to subscribe the warranty at those retail stored to get this special offer?

you dont have to but if you do then you can just get a new one at the store you bought and keep your hard drive instead of waiting weeks for it to be repaired

You only get your warranty extended to 3 years if you get the RRoD or the E74 error. Each 360 comes with a standard 1 year warranty which covers all problems. You should register it on xbox.com when you get your 360. Store warranties add onto that 1 year warranty and the store will replace it.
