Hi, I have an old style Xbox and I have heard that it is multi region. Is this right? Also I heard that whatever region the 1st dvd you play is that all the Xbox will be able to play from then on. I want to be able to watch US region dvds, think thats region 1. Also, I am thinking fo getting my hubby an Xbox 360 Elite. Can that play dvds to and if so what region

no, the region code isn't anything to do with the refresh rate the disc drive itself is region coded, however, there are a few xbox 360 games which are not region locked, it will not play region 1 dvds though, it WILL play region 2 and region 0 The PS2 will be the same, UK PAL systems are limited to region 2 unless some kind of unlock code can be used (some older dvd players can be unlocked by code) However, it should be pointed out, some DVDs marked as region 1 are not really region 1, they may be marked as region 1 simply because they must be by law, but some region 1 dvds may actually be region 0, this is a case of luck and trial and error though. The only way to get it to play all DVDs marked as region 1 would be to mod the console, and I would not reccomend that.
