can you not use a wifi dongle in xbox instead of the official adapter?

the official ones are about £50! I've found what i think might be the next best - the TP link wireless game adapter at £20 ...but why cant you just plug a usb wifi dongle in the xbox?

I suspect it's down to the fact that the normal wifi adapters for PCs dont have XBOX 360 drivers. I don't know the full reason why they don't work though.

Because the dongle needs software an the Xbox has its own OS that does not support software installations unlike windows.
