I try to connect to xbox live but the DNS keeps failing?!?

i try to connect and it cant so i go to test connection. the router is wired the IP is confirmed but then it fails at DNS every time. I've tried everything. I've unplugged everything, manually typed in the DNS, left everything off and unplugged overnight, restarting everything, and nothing works. The DNS fails EVERYTIME. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

There is a xbox live 3 hour shutdown. They are doing a update. Dont worry everyone is having the same problem.
