i recently used my friend's wirless network adapter to conect to xbox live and it worked fine. then he wanted it back so i had had 2 use the ethernet cable. i bought a wireless network adapter off of Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=170228918829
and my 360 doesnt recognize it. the light on the back is red which means it is ready to connect to a network. my question is, what is blocking my 360 from recognizing the network adapter? is it becuase it still remembers the old network adapeter and i somehow need to delete that off its memory or is just a defect?

please! help

PS: the Test Xbox Live test stoped at the first one which is "Network adapter". It said "Disconnected"

probably a bad adapter. Try returning it somehow or talking to microsoft

also check your IP settings and make sure it sees your wireless network.

I know this isn't an answer per se, but I'm having the exact same issue. I just bought the MS Wireless adapter from Best Buy and have tried it on two xboxes. In both cases, when I went to enter the network settings, the wireless area was grayed out and would not let me enter the settings. After spending an hour with an idiot on MS customer service, I'm sending back as defective and getting a new one. Fingers crossed it will work. I have read on amazon that there have been a large number of defective adapters shipped in June, so that could be adding to the problem.

you could try going into the settings for the internet then click it so you can see all the details like DNS and IP and then find the section where it says wireless. then on the x or y button you should be able to click search for wireless network. just keep trying stuff like that to refresh it and see if it starts working
