I've been playing mostly Halo 3 on Xbox Live for probably about 6 months now and haven't experienced so much lag, ever. It's not horrendous and most of the time I can still see what's going on, but there are a lot of teleporting people glitching around usually. On the scoreboard where it shows everyone's lag levels, I'm usually the only guy lagging with my 1 red bar. I don't think it's because there are too many people playing as I've played while Halo numbers reach 250k in past months without experiencing any problems. If it's my network, how can I check or fix that? Also, I've already tried the cache clearing technique, but that did nothing. Any help would be appreciated, and sources are mighty nice too! Thanks!

Well, you might be really unlucky and be playing with people who have bad connection or lag-switchers (people who purposely have bad connection to make the oppsition lag)

Remember, if something seems wrong, restart the network. Be sure to have high speed internet, and a wired router connection, as wireless connection lag a lot.

As to why this started happening so suddenly, I am clueless. It may be a change in service provider or a change your service provider made. Somebody might also be trying to hack your network and use it which slows it down for you. Make sure your network is safe and private. Good luck fixing this problem.

If you are using a wireless router then make sure your network is secured by a password so your neighbors won't eat up your bandwidth. Also, make sure that there is no interference such as microwaves, cellphones, and other things that may make the signal weak. In your router settings, forward your ports to allow xbox live to connect to all available ports. Check out this website: http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/XboxLive360/XboxLive360index.htm

If you have a wired connection, or the above did not work, then contact your ISP(Internet Service Provider) or try resetting you gateway/modem. Alot of times this can be the cause of slow connection, but your ISP might try to get you to buy a more expensive package promising faster speeds.

Also, make sure there is no other computers using up your bandwidth by downloading, using bittorrent, updating, filesharing or any of that. I would also suggest getting a Linksys router if you are going wireless since they are easy to use, fast, and secure.

it may be because of the people you play with, or possibly the internet connection you have. sometimes if you have a wireless adaptor on your xbox, the connection can get bad. also if you don't have high speed internet your xbox will start to behave weird online. connecting it directly with an ethernet cable with make it run a whole lot faster and better. if that doesn't help then i'm not sure what the problem would be.
