Ok so im more than likely going to buy an elite because I want all it offers and suchnot. However, while hearing that the Elite has redesigned mother board so there is practically no chance of 3 lights anymore because this fixed the problem of the nvidia chip warping from the heat and microsoft just glueing the chip down to make it last alil longer - I also am reading, from engaget, that it does not have the 65 nm chip which inturn means that the motherboard is actually not redesigned and therefore will just give me red ring of death 9-12 months down the road.

I bought a premium console in july that was made april 12, 2006 which died on me april 5th 07. It is currently being fixed by microsoft and im going to be giving this one to my brother and buying the elite - but if the mb isnt fixed i most certainly do not want that to happen again.

Sry for this being so long - just wanted to make sure i got my situation across.

To tell the truth, the 360 elite does have 95 nm chips, so it's hard ware is the same as the premium 360 on the inside. Also, the elite still has a bulky external power supply and does NOT have an HD format (such as HD-DVD or blu ray) and still does NOT have wifi, and Microsoft does not plan on adding anything to the 360 elite either. The 360 elite does come with a 120 GB hard drive and 1.2 HDMI connectivity though. It's your decision.

Well, as the elite was never redisigned from the origional xbox 360 and only has a tacked on hdmi port it really makes no difference. A hardware redisign to use the 65nm chips probably wont come untill the holidays along with the rumored price drop so if you buy the elite now or in the summer it will be the same unreliable build and wont make any difference.

I just bought the elite and got a three year warranty with the shop I bought it from. It's probably just as loud as the core xbox 360 but if you have it out in the open and not enclosed in a tv shelf, then the airflow cools it down pretty good. I have it hooked up hdmi to my new samsung 22 inch lcd monitor and the games look pretty good. It's nice to just relax and game even though I'm a pc gamer, I work at my computer all day and can't play games in a comfortable manner by the end of the day.

I say just get a warranty from the store and they will usually replace it if it breaks.

if you buy the elite now you will get a long warrenty on it and if you buy it later it might not be so long of a warrenty and microsoft will replace it with all your same data on the harddrive it it crashes. i suggest buying it now because you have nothing to lose if it brakes they will replace it... and you get a new warrenty on your new one

If you want to mod it with programs and stuff, you should buy it right now, considering you're gonna know what it is you're actually doing. If you don't, you should just wait untill the end of summer, they should have another revision out around that time.

Sell the premium on amazon and get the elite. You won't be sorry.
