I would like to get an xbox 360 for christmas. I have a Wii, but I'm not familiar with xbox. Some things I'd like to know are how the online works and do you need a router or does it like hook up to some xbox network. Are there any good non-rated m games? Also is 20gb enough or is the 60gb safer (I usually don't download to much just online play). Really try to explain the online play in detail, but if you feel up to it explain it all in general I would really appreciate it. Lol sorry im such an xbox noob:P.

Don't listen to this joke of a guy above me bashing the xbox. The 360 is truly an awsome awsome system. Xbox Live is great. You can get one year of Live for 50 bucks and it is very well worth it. You do need a router for online play. There were originally a lot of problems with the Xbox but they now have all of the issues fixed. If something does happen to mess up on your xbox microsoft is very good about repairing the problem for you. In fact, my xbox at one time had the flashing red lights and they had me send it in and it was sent back to me in a week repaired for free.

If you don't think you will download much then 20 is by far enough. Online you will occasionally be required to download new maps and what not for certain games but they're not massive downloads.

As far as the actual online playing it rocks. The Playstation has a very very poor online gaming thing, if you've seen or played that its absolutely terrible compared to the Xbox's version. Very rarely will you ever get any lag or froze games when online, its just like playing the game offline. Theres also a whole marketplace deal on live. You can download movies, tv shows, music, and add ons for different games. Its about like having another computer.

Anyways, hope that helped a bit. For live you need to definitely get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Its a very cool game. Also check out all of the sports games if you like those, a lot of fun.

So the 20gb kit is somewhat the previous version of the present 60gb version. The kit consists of the 360, a 20gb annoyingpersistent, a prompt controller, a under pressure headset and each and all of the cables and potential assets you choose. The 360 is rather self explanatory The annoyingpersistent is used for storing game saves as properly as song, %., and video clips. The controller is a controller, prompt and with a battery %.. The headset is this decrease priced plasticky element for you to use to speak with people in the time of Xbox stay video games or in chat training. i'm constructive once you get this kit you would be very thrilled, it is person-friendly and a super element to start from while entering the subsequent era of consoles. desire this helps.

okay, good question! ok well Xbox stopped making the pro.

the arcade has 256MB of memory, if you want to put songs, movies and other stuff on your xbox this is not enough.

the Elite has 120GB of memory, this is plenty for a bunch of songs and a few movies.Infinity ward and Xbox have come out with the new Limited Edition Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 Console, it has 250GB of memory which is a little bit more than twice the elites memory. It comes with 2 wireless controllers, the game Modern Warfare 2, the console, and the 250GB hard drive.

the actual console has some awesome gun metal gray Logos and words, plus some cool looking sorta "slash marks". I think you should get the limited edition modern warfare 2 console.

prices:USD$

arcade=$199.99

Elite=$299.99

Limited editon MW2 console=$399.99(but you save some $)

Xbox Live Memberships:

you can pay buy credit/debit card, or a Xbox live card, the cards can be bought at gamestop, blockbuster, ect.

1 month=$8

3 months=$19.99

1 year/12 months=$49.99

the more you buy at a time the more you save.

Connecting to the internet:

you can connect wired or wireless.

for wired, all the consoles come with an Ethernet cable which you can plug into the back of your wired/wireless router, or your modem, and then you connect the other end the your Xbox console, just watch a Youtube video on "how to set up Xbox live".

wireless~

if you have a wireless router for like a laptop or one of your computers, you can use a Wireless Network Adapter,it picks up the signal from your router instead of just running the signal through a wire.

Recommended games for Xbox live:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty World at War

Gears of War 2

Left 4 dead 2

ect.

most war game are fun on xbox live.

good luck gaming,

and "ps2" the guy with the really long answer is a ps3 fanboy , he only hates xbox because he doesn't want to pay for xbox live

also ,its not hard to make a good answer if you take your answers from wikipedia,

qoute from ps2,

1). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.

2). PS3 has 8 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.

3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disk can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.

4). Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second

Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second

It's hooked up by a wireless router that microsoft makes,

or directly to a broadband cable,[which is an Ethernett port right on the back],

You synchronize your hotmail/live email account to your XBOX live account,

and then you get a "Silver" membership,

Which lets you send messages,

But that's essentially it,

The XBOX Live network is currently the best, most accessible online network for a console.

There's way too many games that aren't rated M to list that are good,

You just kind of have to snoop for them,

As for memory,

You can install games now,

So if you plan to install games,or buy lots of downloadable content,

Definitely go with a bigger hard drive,

If not,

20GBs is just fine.

You can add friends by their Gamertags,

Or by a list of recent people you've played with/against.

You can also chat with people on MSN or Yahoo if you synchronize your account.

You can get Microsoft points,[like nintendo points]

Which allows you to download videos, arcade games[which are like wiiware],and content for your games,

You can customize your avatar,[a little guy that actually looks pretty stupid to be honest]

There's two levels of online,

Gold and Silver,

With Gold,

You'll get early access to demos, videos, and there's just plain,

Way too many incentives to upgrade,

It costs around $8 for a one month,

It costs $20 for 3 months,

It costs $50 for a whole year.[and there's usually a bonus month for buying a one-year membership]

It's actually pretty neat,

But if you haven't got any dough,

It's just a lot of gimmick crap.

As for playing with other people,

There's no hassle, like no friend codes to collect,

It's on a big network,

And you can find people by their emails or by their gamertag,

There's usually a lobby when you play with other people,

And you can chat with a headset[which is included in the package].

I don't know if that's as detailed as you'd like.

Here Are The Differences Between PS3 And XBOX 360

4). Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second

Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second

5). PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.

Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.

6). PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers

Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers

7). PS3 - Wi-Fi included

Xbox 360 - Wi-Fi will cost you around 100 $

8). Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to the RSX chip that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 MHz It's difficult to compare their graphics chips, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. However, PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

9). PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC (special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.

10). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. A PS3 can run for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that the thermopaste on the CPU melts, and drips on the motherboard and successfully short-circuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

11). besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).

When I saw a disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling.

12). In 2011 PS3 will get more than 300 games.

13). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

14). There are reports, that 360 scratches the discs. No reports on that in PS3.

15). Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 1 disc even for those).

16). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

17). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

18).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

19).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

20). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds, Xbox 360 - doesn't
