Why does everyone think they need a router? You can get the job done with a wireless switch for less money. Routers are (supposed to be) used to connect multiple networks, not multiple devices on the same network. A router will work but is a waste of money. And no you don't need a router firewall for you application.

People, stop listening to what moron sales clerks at stores like Best Buy. The rarely have any idea what it is they are talking about, they just are told to sell routers for everything. Your only goal here is to share your connection and prevent data collision on your network.

The last things to consider are the wireless protocol and speed. The 360 supports 100 Mbps but if your computer supports 1000, get a gig switch. the box will say 10/100/1000. If your computer's NIC card also only supports 100 Mbps, buying a gig switch would be a waste of money. In that case buy a wireless switch that says 10/100.

Brand wise, it is up to you. If you consider all of the appropriate technical factors, and don't waste your money on a router; the brand won't really matter all that much.

do not difficulty approximately DNS blunders in case you have Verizon you have DHCP and it stands for computerized IP to any gadget on your place. you would be able to desire to make shore the router is connected properly, then turn off the Verizon and the netgaer router. turn on the Verizon first and in spite of each and every thing the mild are on and dealing then you quite activate the netgear. What this does is make the Verizon router communicate with the netgear. Make shore each and all of the computer are turn off in this technique then you quite can turn all computer returned on. go on line and seek for hoe to connect your netgear. then you quite will would desire to establish the WEP, on the spot router call and password. returned take time and seek on line and you'd be waiting to do it

the linksys srx models work really good because the signal is very strong on the outside of the range. I actually trippled my signal and the router was only 70 bucks.
